The Middle Years Program (MYP)

The Middle Years Programme of the International Baccalaureate Organisation is a dynamic, rigorous, innovative and exciting philosophy and curriculum framework for students in grades 6-10. It is particularly suited and created for young people as they emerge from the security and certainties of childhood and the elementary school into the challenges and turbulence of adolescence.

The MYP is guided by three overarching principles:

  • Holistic learning  
  • Intercultural awareness
  • Communication

The MYP program advocates an interdisciplinary approach to learning via five Areas of Interaction (AoI):

  1. Human Ingenuity
  2. Environments
  3. Health and Social Education
  4. Community and Service
  5. Approaches to Learning
