Literacy
 
The British National Curriculum is followed for objectives, using the Hamilton Scheme (https://www.hamilton-trust.org.uk/) for lesson planning.
 
Early Years 2, Pre-Primary and Primary 1 are Key Stage 1:

Reading
Individual reading and development of reading skills are strongly encouraged. DEAR – Drop Everything And Read – is part of the daily structure of the day.
Children are leveled according to their ability and a selection of books are available in each class for the children to work through at their own pace.
 
Spelling
Spellings are taught in conjunction with the British National Curriculum. From Primary 1 children are given weekly spellings to learn which are tested on a Friday. These spellings link into the spelling pattern rules taught in daily Phonics lessons.
