Welcome to AISJ in 2011/2012!

We are passionate about our sports here at AISJ and place a high value on giving our students every opportunity to get involved in sports that they can grow to love. There is so much enjoyment and so many profound lessons to be discovered as one participates in various physical activities and team sports. Confidence, commitment, focus, leadership, cooperation and fair play are among the many qualities we see developed in our children as they work in a team and as they overcome personal challenges through their chosen sport. Because of this fact, we endeavour to make a wide selection of physical activities and team competition available to our students each school year.

Common offerings include: basketball, soccer, swimming, volleyball, baseball, running, rugby, football, as well as: self defence, horse riding, scuba diving and orienteering. Other sports and activities are added as there is demand.

Participation

We encourage all our students to get involved in at least one team sport a year and are thrilled when AISJ kids make goals to try a new physical activity or to enter competitions which they may never have thought possible before.

Remember the old adage, “Showing up is half the battle”? Why not make it your goal to get involved in something new, challenge yourself to ‘show up’ this year? You never know what exciting opportunities will open up to you.

Support

The Athletics programme here is made so much more successful as a result of the vital assistance given by the amazing parents and friends of AISJ.  If you would like to be involved in any way with our programme – from coaching a sport, or chaperoning one of our annual trips through to running a half marathon with your child, or feeding our famished athletes oranges at the half time break – please let us know.

Communication

Specific training/ competition times and venues will be updated on the School Events Calendar and via email for team members and their families.

Again, welcome to 2011/2012 at AISJ and allow me to leave this, one of my favourite quotes, as a reward for those who have persevered through to the end of this page:

“Everything comes to him who hustles while he waits”... Thomas Edison.
